Causes
- Herniated Disc:Occurs when the inner core of a spinal disc pushes through its outer layer, pressing on the sciatic nerve. This pressure leads to inflammation and pain that can radiate down the leg.
- Spinal Stenosis:A narrowing of the spinal canal, often due to age-related degeneration. This narrowing can compress the sciatic nerve, causing pain, numbness, and weakness in the lower back and legs.
- Foraminal Stenosis:This condition involves the narrowing of the foraminal canal (exit canal) where spinal nerves pass through. When these spaces narrow, they can pinch the sciatic nerve, leading to pain and inflammation along the nerve path.
